Graduate School Courses

The current healthcare system is a triage system: repairing, band-aiding and medicating acute symptoms of despair and self-destruction. The deep rooted answers to thriving in authentic living are not there.

It is time for a new additional approach. A way based in science and tradition.

Course Title:

Anatomy & Physiology. Acupuncture & Chakras. The workings of the body.

Description:

Explore the seemingly magical sciences of  anatomy and physiology that are needed to pursue any degree in the fields of psychology, athletic training, nursing, or just to understand what it is to be a human, biologically. In addition, find out how the chakra system and the acupuncture meridians align with the anatomical systems.

As a physical therapist (2 degrees) The body is quite amazing. Everyone has one. We dress it up, put makeup on it, and constantly work on its shape. But all of that is superficial and irrelevant. The bigger concern is how well does it work. Like a car, the most important parts are the parts you cannot see.

If you are going into any type of healthcare, fitness, human research field or you just want to know how your body works  it is imperative you understand what is under the hood and what turns the wheels which is anatomy and physiology. The chakra system has been dubbed the anatomy of the spirit and affects the body anatomy and physiology. Acupuncture outlines channels through the body that carry energy. So we are  going to take a look at what roll they play in anatomy and physiology for a holistic and a hard science examination of the body.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Visually identify the anatomy and physiology of the 11 human organ systems in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner for novel problem solving in the human sciences: Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive, Excretory, Nervous, Endocrine, Immune, Integumentary, Skeletal, Muscle and Reproductive Systems in order to critically evaluate and ethically solve problems in the human sciences 2.Correctly name tissues and use scientific terminology involved in the function of the 11 human organ systems to articulate, through written and oral communication, the transdisciplinary nature of the human sciences.
  2. Construct meta-systematic philosophical and scientific paradigms that advance global-holistic approaches to wellbeing using the interrelatedness of the 11 organ systems and their interplay roles with one another in order to articulate human existence as multi-dimensional, including body, mind, and spirit, fundamentally communal and individual, for the betterment of a sustainable global society.
  3. Apply the foundational anatomy and physiology learnings  in a medical field, psychology field, athletic training field, research field, and other workplace fields for advancing well-being practices using scholarly sources, advanced qualitative and quantitative research, and original contributions.
  4. Understand basic principles of acupuncture meridians and the chakra system in relation to the 11 anatomical organ systems.

Course Title:

Neurosis and Human Growth. The struggle towards self-realization. (Psychology)

Description:

Once you see clearly for yourself how neurotic behavior develops and roots into every human mind, you will then be able to break free from its suffocating  shackles to awaken, and free your real-self for authentic living. Learn how to identify “pride systems”, “self-hatred systems”, “god complexes”, “people pleasing”, “resignation”, and “should systems”  which develop in our minds as coping mechanisms to form false behavioral dictatorships in all of us.

We will walk through the chapters together filling out the simple study guide, and then discuss the eye-opening content as a group online. The author of our book, Dr. Karen Horney, was a world-renowned mainstream psychiatrist, second only to Freud and possibly Jung. As a German in the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute, Dr. Horney moved to America and founded the now esteemed American Psychological Association

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Recognize and Analyze the neurotic condition in others and themselves in order to examine people as ever evolving, multidimensional beings on a developmental journey toward wholeness, which encompasses the domains of mind, body, and spirit.
  2. Understand and apply the psychological definitions of the false self, the true self, self -realization, neurotic claims, search for glory, “should” systems, self-hate, neurotic pride systems, alienation from self, and tension relief mechanisms to apply transdisciplinary research, theory and praxis for effective counseling and communication in both traditional and non-traditional settings.
  3. Recognize and explore self-effacing, mastery, and resigned personalities as trauma coping mechanisms in order to construct a synthesis of holistic thought, that includes consciousness and spirituality.
  4. Develop programs to remove the presence of neurosis and support self-realization for a personal framework for the ‘self-as-healer,’ underscored by the notion that personal healing and ongoing self-development is positively correlated with professional aptitude.

Course Title:

Spiritual Coaching: Neuroscience. Psychoanalysis. Hypnosis. The fast track to spiritual awakening.

Description:

Phobias, addictions, compulsions, overreactions, and nonsensical demands on others from subconscious and unconscious belief systems are embedded deep in the psyche and are difficult if not impossible to flush out. These neurotic needs and belief systems cause mental strain, an unhealthy body, and self-destructing relationships. Traditional psycho-therapy tries to eradicate them, but is very slow, costly, time consuming and many times does not accomplish the goal fully.

These needs and beliefs play out in a person’s everyday life only to sabotage, stunt, or paralyze a person’s spiritual growth and joy. According to psychological research these belief systems develop at an early age for protection from trauma. In the conscious world, the needs look like phobias, addictions, compulsions, overreactions, and nonsensical demands on others. Many times psycho-therapists tackle the needs, but they just grow back in another form because the root cause (the belief) has not been eradicated.

This process is similar to a weed in the garden. If you pick off the part you see on top of the ground (the need in the conscious mind), the weed’s root system (the belief) will grow the whole visible plant (the phobias, addictions, compulsions, overreactions, and nonsensical demands on others) back a month later. It may look a little different (a different need) but it is the same plant (same belief system generating it).

The spirit self is choked out by all of our weeds. Uprooting the limiting belief systems developed in an immature child’s mind is imperative to liberating the spirit self, the authentic self, the true self.

These weeds (beliefs + needs) are easy to find because their fruits are the obstacles in your life. The fruits are very visible and debilitating to your mental health, physical health, and relationships. Now, we need a mole (a tool) that can go into the earth (subconscious and unconscious mind) around the roots (belief system) and remove or eradicate the root system of the weed quickly, in days not years. This process cannot take years, we just don’t have that much time.

Examine the peer-reviewed research journals on the subjects of neuroscience and Psychoanalysis as they pertain to hypnosis, a fast track to spiritual awakening. Discover how to use these new fast track tools in your practice as you explore them on yourself, then journal the power or shortcomings of the strategies. You will read the other participant’s weekly journals as well to get a broader view of the hypnosis outcomes. You will pick three issues in your life, purchase three hypno-therapy packages from world renowned hypno-therapist Marissa Peer, watch her videos, meditations, and hypno-session for your homework. In class, we will examine the academic literature on the neuroscience, psychoanalysis, and hypnosis you are experiencing. The goal of the course is to introduce you to a toolset you can use with clients/patients/yourself for stronger and faster therapeutic outcomes in conjunction with other therapeutics.

By the end of this course, students will:

  1. Acquire first-hand knowledge of a patient experience with therapeutic hypnosis. The student chooses their three personal psychological obstacles to work on for the duration of the course and is led with videos by a professional hypno-therapist, exactly like a potential patient would.
  2. Understand the peer reviewed neuroscience, psychoanalysis, and hypnosis literature pertaining to therapeutic hypnosis treatments in a psychologist’s setting.
  3. Know how a hypno-therapist would couple a hypnosis therapeutic treatment with other therapeutic treatments specific to their field of concentration.

What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is simply getting access to your subconscious mind. Your mind is more accepting and receptive to change when under hypnosis, meaning you’re more likely to see better results and a more significant transformation. Hypnosis is completely natural. If you’ve ever found yourself driving your car home from work on autopilot, or in a trance-like state when you’ve been watching TV, you’ve gone into a state of hypnosis.

What Happens To Your Mind In Hypnosis? Far from leaving you out of control or sending you to sleep, discover the truth about what happens during hypnosis — and the remarkable results.

What Makes Hypnosis Effective? For hypnosis to be effective, you have to want the change to happen. During hypnosis, the mind becomes excited and receptive to change. When in hypnosis, you are able to rewire changes into your mind and your mind is more able to easily accept them. Hypnosis can be a powerful tool when you want to unlock a transformation, overcome a block or address issues at the root cause.

Course Title:

Neural Brian Patterning in self-care. Rituals. Practices. Habits. (Neurology)

Description:

The brain, nervous system, and sensory systems dictate your daily rituals, practices, and habits. Here, you will find out why and learn how to rewire them for  yourself and your patient’s greatest benefit.

Living well is within everyone’s grasp and the brain is the major player of rituals and practices to create positive habits. This course teaches you how to overcome your monumental busy-life obstacles using knowledge of the brain/nervous system constructs along with practical activities including templates, realistic observation, analysis, and planning.

In the past, you probably invested time into one or two of your self-care needs because you didn’t know how much you needed. We will review what psychology research and what world philosophies report are best-practices to reach self-actualization, giving you many practices to choose from for your individualized program. Some practices fill multiple categories making them more time efficient than others. You need to know those, but each decision will be your choice including the time of practice. Using templates and real life practical strategies, we build your personal choice program together and you will find the art of discipline easy and enjoyable. Attending this class is important because teacher/peer accountability is what drives your consistency. By the time you finish the course, the rituals and practices become effortless habits.

Eventually the driving force behind consistency switches from teacher/peer accountability to your positive feelings, new found emotions, increased productivity, and being alive sensations that your new self-care habits deliver.  You will soon feel like you can’t live without your new habits, and you don’t have to because they are all free. They only require time from you. You will experience their value, necessity, and benefits in your family life, work life, and relationship with yourself. Self-care rituals, practices and habits are the foundation of the path to self-actualization, enlightenment, or Nirvana. Join us. Learn the Magic of rituals, practices, and habits. Start healing.

By the end of this course:

  1. Each student will have produced a personalized daily habitual schedule of mind, body, spirit activities (rituals and practices)  that integrate easily into their current lifestyle and timelines.
  2. Participants understand psychological research and philosophical findings concerning necessary activities (rituals and practices) to reach self-actualization.
  3. Participants learn about the plethora of  activities (rituals and practices) to choose from that qualify as mind, body, spirit activities to help them with activity choices now and in the future.

  5. Participants will understand the meaning, value, and necessity of habits in rituals and practices. They will know how to create a habit through consistency.

Course Reviews by the Students: “I was there”

Anatomy & Physiology. Acupuncture & Chakras. The workings of the body.

Hi Dr. Byrd-Rider,

I’m so happy that I took your A&P course last quarter. I think a degree in Integral Health should require A&P. I’m taking Biophysics of Neuropsychology and Energy Medicine Topics this summer.  Even in the first week, assignments from both courses are heavily predicated on the A&P material that I learned in your course.   I would be totally lost right now without having this base knowledge to build from. My instructor was glad to hear that I had already taken A&P so we could go deeper in these courses having this previous A&P exposure. The energy medicine course is the extension of the energy piece we were wanting in your course so it’s working out perfectly.  I see now that it’s just too much material to be combined into one course.  I think A&P should be an early prerequisite for the Integral Health program but specifically for these two courses and for the biofeedback course.  What a blessing to have your course and then these two courses.  I’m so happy with the way this worked out.

Thank you again for bringing this to CIHS.

Warmest Regards,

Heather CIHS graduate student

Kim’s Mission Statement

I am here to LIBERATE the authentic true self in myself and others because it has imprisoned too long with globally destructive results.

My strategy is to create a sense of INTELLECTUAL CERTAINTY in the Divine through science, that will CLOSE THE GAP and RECTIFY THE ILLUSION of distance and detachment between the individual’s authentic true self and the Divine.

My Goal is to bring lasting mental and physical health to the masses via the new Utopian Healthcare system. As the masses heal rapidly, they will begin creating World Health & World Peace thus fulfilling the prophecy of the current Pope Francis, “This is not an Era of Change, this is a Change of an Era.”
